Overview

Did you hear about this concept at one of our online seminars? While we integrate this concept in many of our lectures, this is the full course that takes a deep dive into One Leadership, One Voice.

In recent years, Patrick Lencioni’s The Advantage, which contends that an organization’s health is a greater competitive advantage than superior strategy and cutting-edge technology, has become immensely popular. Lencioni believes that a healthy organization provides a unique advantage that is not dependent upon its employees’ working knowledge or intelligence level. The improvement in organizational health, states Lencioni, “can create a massive competitive advantage and improved bottom line, (and) will also make a real difference in the lives of the people who work there.” When management, operations, and culture become one, it can transform a fragmented company into a holistic and healthy organization. This course instructs the leadership of an organization to become (or create) a cohesive team, create clarity, overcommunicate that clarity, and reinforce it consistently. In learning these fundamental steps for developing a healthy organization, participants effect change beyond the immediate and short-lived quick fixes by transforming their organization into a centered body that unites management, operations, and culture.

In addition to group courses, we offer:

Course Outline

The curriculum of the One Leadership, One Voice Program contains four major learning disciplines that guide an executive team towards functioning as a team and overcoming obstacles to effective communication. Looking at the program holistically, these four disciplines are the major drivers of the program and ultimately guide the learning which leaders are exposed to throughout the program. The program also has progressive and innovative leadership concepts intertwined into the four major disciplines. This is due to their direct relevance and the supplemental value they add to the overarching concepts within the four disciplines. The four disciplines are as follows:

Discipline 1: Build a Cohesive Leadership Team

Becoming a cohesive leadership team requires:

  • Behavioral unification
  • A high level of rigor
  • An intentional decision by teammates
  • Teammates to “willingly accept the work and sacrifices necessary”

Discipline 2: Create Clarity

A leadership team creating clarity requires:

  • Elimination of subtle misalignment
  • The development of a clear and consistent message
  • A clear portrayal of what is important to the organization
  • One voice

Discipline 3: Over-communicate Clarity

A leadership team over communicating clarity requires:

  • The established alignment be consistently expressed to employees
  • The alignment be repeated “over a period of time, in a variety of different situations, and preferably from different people”
  • Teammates to habitually concluding meetings with clear and specific agreements about the communications being cascaded to employees

Discipline 4: Reinforce Clarity

A leadership team reinforcing clarity requires:

  • Embedding the established alignment in the fabric of the organization
  • Teammates to make “sure that every human system—every process that involves people—from hiring and people management to training and compensation, is designed to reinforce” the clarity and alignment it created and communicated
  • Modification of human systems to provide the essential structure for tying together the organization’s operations, management, and culture
