Cybersecurity Fundamentals for ISSOs
The Cybersecurity Fundamentals course provides students with an overview of core information assurance (IA) and cybersecurity concepts. The course will consist of lectures and hands-on labs for a multi-faceted learning experience. This course will provide a good initial foundation for participants wanting to work in a corporate or government security role and ultimately pursue an industry certification like Security+.
Prerequisites
Students should have taken UMBC Training Centers’ Network Fundamentals for ISSOs course or have equivalent skills and experience.
Anyone involved in information security must have a solid understanding of the core concepts of information, network and application security, as well as the security processes, tools and technologies in use in a modern enterprise network (including the extended Cloud network). The course will feature hands-on exercises and hacking demos to reinforce key concepts.

Is there a discount available for current students?
UMBC students and alumni, as well as students who have previously taken a public training course with UMBC Training Centers are eligible for a 10% discount, capped at $250. Please provide a copy of your UMBC student ID or an unofficial transcript or the name of the UMBC Training Centers course you have completed. Asynchronous courses are excluded from this offer.
What is the cancellation and refund policy?
Student will receive a refund of paid registration fees only if UMBC Training Centers receives a notice of cancellation at least 10 business days prior to the class start date for classes or the exam date for exams.
